Tarena Smith is Vice President Major Events, Mercedes-Benz Stadium, AMB Sports & Entertainment.

She oversees the coordination of all majora and private events at the stadium including Atlanta Falcons football games, Atlanta United soccer matches, Chick-Fil-A Peach Bowl, SEC Championship, Celebration Bowl, College Football National Championship Game and most recently Super Bowl LIII. Prior to joining MBS, Tarena was the Director of Event Services at the University of Phoenix Stadium (now State Farm Stadium), home of the Arizona Cardinals for 11 years and was part of the operating team opening the stadium in 2006 after spending 10 years with the Lansing Entertainment and Public Facilities Authority (Michigan) holding the positions of Sales Manager and Event Manager. Tarena has been a part of 5 Final Fours, 1 NCAA Men’s Basketball Regional, 9 Super Bowls, 1 Pro Bowl, 3 College Football Playoffs, 11 Fiesta Bowls, CONCACAF Gold Cup, USA Men’s and Women’s Soccer, WrestleMania, Cirque du Solei, Concerts, Monster Jam and Supercross and various Consumer Shows.

Tarena earned a bachelor’s degree in Merchandising Management/Business from Michigan State University and was a 4-year letter winner in Field hockey. She holds a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) certification, attended the 2-year IAVM Facility Management School in Oglebay WV and has served on various boards, committees and mentorship programs within the facilities and event management fields. Tarena was an active member of the Linking Sports and Communities organization in Arizona. As part of WISE Atlanta’s (Women in Sports and Events) 2018 Executive Summit: Atlanta’s Women of Super Bowl LIII, Tarena was one of 4 guest panelist.

Tarena enjoys spending time with family, hiking, golf, cruises, travel, and biking. She recently completed a 25mile bike ride raising funds for Grady Hospital’s Trauma Center. She has been a big sister in the Big Brother Big Sister program, a volunteer and foster parent with the Arizona Children’s Association and often speaks to youth regarding careers in sports outside of the lines. 

Tarena is originally from Westminster Maryland and currently resides in Smyrna GA.
